The Aztreonam molecule in 3-D



Aztreonam is an antibiotic of the monobactam group. Like penicillin, it contains a beta-lactam "ring", but it is not directly attached to another ring.

It can be used to treat infections by organisms such as susceptible gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Citrobacter, Enterobacter, E. coli, Haemophilus, Klebsiella, Proteus, and Serratia species
