Contacting me by email

photo If you wish to get in touch with me for any reason, I would like to make the following points first.
Please give me some details about yourself:
Your full name, or at least your first name (not something like crazyguy@yahoo.com)
Where you are calling from - your geographical location.
With all these anonymous webmail addresses, I usually cannot even tell which country you are in. Why not consider putting a small amount of information about yourself in a signature? This sort of information can only be useful to me in framing my reply.
If you want to know what is on the site: check it out first.
If you are asking me a question of a biological nature, please give me the background: is this a task set by your teacher, or are you trying to settle an argument with friends?
I will not do your homework for you.
Please tell me whether you are a student. teacher or parent, or if you fit into another category. And what age/level of study?
A lot of questions I receive relate to coursework where the exam board's wording is thrown at me in isolation from the background investigation; I cannot be much help here. In fact I do not usually participate in this process - there is too much opportunity for plagiarism already on the net.
Please do not send me any attachments unless you warn me first in an ordinary email - large files are liable to be rejected.
Do not ask me questions of a personal or medical nature - see a counsellor or GP.
Incidentally, I have no desire to amass or sell personal details or email addresses. I have suffered enough from spam, viruses propagated via address book and the occasional rude email to be quite wary. On the other hand, I have had some tremendous encouragement via the net.
I do not download emails very regularly, and frequently take some time to reply. I have a life off the net!
