BioTopics Site Privacy Statement

No personal information is collected by me as a result of you entering this site, although usage may be counted for traffic management purposes. This site does not currently use cookies for its own purposes.

However, third parties may be placing and reading cookies on users' browsers, or using web beacons to collect information as a result of ad serving on this website.

BioTopics is affiliated to Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com. On some pages there are adverts for (hopefully useful and appropriate*) products which may be purchased online, from which BioTopics earns a small amount to cover operating costs.
*However I do concede that some so-called contextual units occasionally misconstrue keywords in my text and I have restricted the placement of these units.

BioTopics also uses Google Adsense units on most pages. I trust that these adverts do not significantly detract from the usefulness of this educational material.

EU ePrivacy Directive and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

I see no reason why such considerations should not apply in other areas of the world.

Recently it has been brought to my attention that Google uses a series of ad technology providers that receive end users' personal data as a consequence of the use of Google products on these pages. Google and other ad networks and vendors use data about users, for example, to show them personalized ads or to report on conversions. There is an astonishingly long list of providers that offer the chance to change the style of data they store as a result of your web activities.

By default, ad requests to Google serve personalized ads, with ad selection based on both the content of the web page and the history of the individual user visiting the page.

By continuing to use the BioTopics site you are assumed to give consent for the use of cookies for these purposes.

If you contact me by e-mail I shall not pass on your details to any other person.
