Holly

Holly is well known for its spiky leaves, and its red berries.

It is not well known that holly is an example of a dioecious plant, i.e. there are separate male and female plants, and only the female plant produce the red berries which are in fact its fruits. It also explains why so many holly bushes and trees bear no berries - they are male!
